Not every marriage is perfect, but according to a new study, Louisiana has the fourth-highest divorce rate in the country.
And it is no surprise for some residents.

Family and marriage counselor, John Brooks says more marriages equal more divorces.

“Moving beyond Louisiana what is the south like, and what is our culture like compared to where divorce rates are much lower like in the northeast, People get married younger and there are less educational opportunities.  There is also a much higher rate of people living in faith-based communities,” said Brooks.

The report notes financial stress as a factor in the deterioration of a marriage, and Louisiana has both a low median household income and a high unemployment rate compared with national figures says Attorney e. Orum Young.

The three states worse than the pelican state for divorce rate are Arkansas, Idaho, and Nevada.
