New chef in town brings new dining experience to El Dorado

Local News

(01/17/19) He’s known all over the world now he’s making a name for himself in El Dorado. Austin Johnson, Executive Chef at the Griffin Restaurant, has been to Alaska, New York, the Netherlands, Copenhagen, Paris and London to name a few.

“Cooking is a journey,” Johnson said.

This chef’s journey all over the world now has him in the old oil town of El Dorado. Chef Austin brings his cooking, sauteing and grilling greatness to the Griffin restaurant.

The executive chef has only been here for two months and is very excited to be here.

“Yeah, it’s great,” he said. “I love it.”

From the delicious clams to the fresh salads and seafood, the restaurant has become a local favorite, with him behind the apron.

Karen Langston visits the restaurant three to four times a month.

“Of course you try to come early enough where you can get dinner because the new chef, he’s just blown me away with all of his creations,” Langston said.

Chef Austin hopes diners like Langston can taste his passion for cooking in every bite. He uses the freshest  foods every day, mouth-watering seasonings and a French-style technique.

For those who sit down with a fork and knife, it’s something else that makes the experience even better.

“What really impresses me is that these are farm to table ingredients,” said Langston. “So these are ingredients right here in our backyard.”

Chef Austin has a quiet spirit but his eye for perfection and artistic food creation speaks volumes.

“He can take them and make these world-class entrees that you really wouldn’t get anywhere else in town,” said Langston.

Chef’s goal is to be the best in the region. Check out the restaurants website for time, location and menu.
