(2/1/19) Monroe police officers arrested Lonnie Ruffin, 44, of Monroe in the 500 block of Winnsboro Road for riding a bicycle without the proper mounted lighting.

Upon initial contact, officers activated their emergency lights and asked Ruffin to get off of his bike. Ruffin then immediately stated, “I ain’t got nothin’ for ya!” and attempted to flee on his bike.

Officers stopped Ruffin on his bike at 502 Winnsboro Road.

MPD dispatch advised officers that Ruffin had an active warrant through OPSO.

Prior to placing Ruffin inside of the patrol unit, Ruffin advised officers that he had two small bags of marijuana inside an inner pocket on his overalls.

Ruffin was transported to OCC for booking where he admitted that he attempted to flee from officers due to him possessing the warrant and marijuana.

He was charged with Failure to Appear, Possession CDS-1 1st offense, Resisting an Officer and Bicycles; front lamps; side and rear reflectors.

His bond was set at $2,900.
