Earlier today, a single-vehicle motorcycle crash killed a man from Calhoun.

Shortly before 2:00 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 4 near the Caldwell/Jackson Parish line.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Harley Davidson, driven by 64-year-old William Collins Jr. of Calhoun, LA, was traveling east on LA 4.  Upon entering a slight right-hand curve, the motorcycle traveled off the road and into a ditch.  Collins, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected.

Collins was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell Parish Coroner’s Office.

Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.  Alcohol is not a suspected factor in this crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
