An illegal immigrant living in Farmerville is now behind bars on human trafficking charges.
Louisiana State Police arrested 31-year-old Nicolas Asig after getting information about a possible human trafficking victim.
The multi-agency investigation led to Asig’s arrest and the safe recovery of the juvenile female victim.
Police say both were here illegally from Guatemala.
Asig is being held at the Union Parish Detention Center on charges including human trafficking, second degree rape, felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, and molestation of a juvenile.
His bond is set at just over $1,000,000.
A Louisiana mayor is facing backlash for his response to Nike’s Colin Kaepernick ad.
The company released an ad last week featuring the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who began kneeling during the national anthem in the 2016 season.
The same day the ad was unveiled… Kenner Mayor E. Ben Zahn III signed a memo banning all booster clubs from ordering Nike products at the city’s recreational centers.
A city council member said he will “meet with the mayor and other council members in an effort to rescind (the directive).”
