Monroe starts youth ‘Fun and Fit’ initiative to combat childhood obesity

(4/26/19) The City of Monroe is putting a $25K grant to good use.

Back in January, Monroe received the grant from the American Beverage Association while Mayor Mayo was at the U.S. Mayor’s Conference.

They money is being used for the youth ‘Fun and Fit’ initiative.

“We need to teach them nutritional eating, urban gardening, also eating healthy. We’re glad to have the $25,000 granted to help us start this program,” said Mayor Mayo.

The program aims to stop childhood obesity.
