Local News

A traffic stop has a Monroe man facing charges of attacking a police officer.

The arrest report says 25-year-old Joshua Dewayne Elmore tried to run when an officer pulled over the car he was riding in on Layton Avenue.

The officer fired his taser and missed. The taser was fired again a short time later, but Elmore kept trying to get away.

Elmore even put the officer in a headlock and said “Don’t make me kill you.”

Another officer caught Elmore after he broke free.

He’s charged with battery, resisting with force, and damage to property.

Elmore faces about 37-hundred dollars bond.
