Monroe City employees donate over 300 cases of water for homeless in our area

Local News

(7/25/18) Monroe City employees are trying to make sure our homeless have enough clean drinking water in this dangerous heat.

They’ve spent their own money to buy and donate more than 300 cases of water to Grace Place Ministries and the Salvation Army of North East Louisiana.

Mayor Jamie Mayo says the water will make a huge difference for those who call the streets home.

Mayor Mayo says, “It’s been so hot and humid here in Monroe. Our homeless who are coming here and they’re outside pretty much all day long so that’s going to be significant for them.”

The bottled water drive is part of the city’s employee community benevolent project.
