(10/22/18) The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal mobile home fire in Belle Chasse that has claimed the lives of two children and injured three other people.

The Belle Chasse Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call Sunday evening.

While official identification is still pending, it is believed the children are a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. The remains of two dogs were also discovered.

Investigators say there has not been any evidence of working smoke alarms located yet. At this time, they say it appears as all occupants were attempting to escape the mobile home, the children got separated from the adults and were unable to get out. The three adult victims remain hospitalized.
