(2/19/19) The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash, after an 18-wheeler and a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck collided in Pike County Monday night.
According to Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry, the crash happened on Highway 44 east of Paul Seals Road.
The 18-wheeler was a Sanderson Farms Chicken truck. Cpl. Fortenberry said the accident caused live chickens to spill on the road.
The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as 32-year-old Daniel Ross Howell Jr. of McComb. He died at the scene of the crash.
Troopers said the driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to South West Hospital and was released with minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
