(9/27/18) House Pro Tempore Greg Snowden (R-Meridian) has been charged with a DUI following an accident near Meridian on Highway 30 North and Windmill Drive about a quarter of a mile from his home.

Law enforcement speaking on the condition of anonymity said they received a call about someone driving erratically. When they pulled Snowden over he was unable to pass a field test and refused the intoxilyzer.

WJTV 12 talked to Snowden from his home.

“I was driving home from Jackson this afternoon and I rear ended the guy, It was my fault. I was reading the Kavanaugh hearings on Twitter, I had trouble walking the line, I don’t walk well to being with, I have issues with my knees. I did refuse the DUI test because I didn’t think this was something I should do. I’m a lawyer and everyone I ever talked to said I shouldn’t. I had a beer at lunch at Hal and Mal’s but it was not anything significant,” said Rep. Greg Snowden.

Representative Snowden says he was not inebriated and was released on his own recognizance.

Representative Snowden says he was following the Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination hearings via Twitter and was distracted. This last tweet from his account went around 3:30 pm.
