(4/4/19) 3rd Update: An Abbeville Police officer conducting a traffic stop Wednesday was shot in the shoulder by an unknown suspect who then fled the area.
The unidentified officer is reportedly suffering with a collapsed lung and is listed in stable condition, according to Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza.
Piazza said as the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, a foot chase ensued to the 600 block of North Gertrude Street where the officer was shot.
(4/3/19) 2nd UPDATE: An Abbeville police officer has been rushed to the hospital after being injured during an shooting Wednesday on North Gertrude Street.
The unidentified suspect, according to police, is still at large.
Other details surrounding the shooting have not been released.

In the interest of public safety, police say residents should take heed and stay off the roads, and remain indoors.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
(4/3/19) State Police Public Information Officer Thomas Gossen has confirmed with News 10 that troopers are on the scene of an officer involved shooting in Abbeville.
Gossen said the incident occurred late Wednesday evening in the 600 block of North Gertrude Street.
