Man survives near head-on crash with a train in Mer Rouge

(11/30/2018) The Mer Rouge Police Department is investigating a crash between a Union Pacific train and a Ford pickup.

They say it happened around 8:15 p.m. The southbound train collided with a pickup driven by Floyd Neth of Robertdale, AL.

Police say Neth was driving west on LA 2 when instead of turning northbound on US 165, he turned instead onto the tracks. 

Police say Neth’s injuries were not life threatening. He was taken to the hospital, and has been treated and released. Their investigation continues.
