(7/30/18) A Union Parish man has been charged in connection with the weekend death of a woman who was riding in his vehicle.
The victim was identified as Bridget Tucker, 22, of Farmerville, who reportedly was sitting in the back window of Dustin Hines’ pickup truck and fell to her death on the Liberty Baptist Church Road.
Sheriff Dusty Gates said Hines, 21, of Marion, was booked into the parish detention center on charges of vehicular homicide and obstruction of justice. His total bond was set at $22,000.
The sheriff said the truck was traveling about 35 to 40 mph on the asphalt road when the victim crawled onto the window with her legs inside the truck and her body outside. “She apparently lost her grip and fell from the window onto the pavement,” Gates said.
Personnel from the Union Parish Coroner’s office pronounced Tucker dead at the scene.
Gates said deputies working the incident found alcohol hidden in a wooded area off the road resulting in the obstruction of justice charge.
There were two other passengers in the vehicle, the sheriff said.
