A Union Parish man called sheriff’s deputies for help after being poked, hit with a glass platter and a folding chair, scratched and had his truck beaten with a large rock.
Sheriff Dusty Gates said when the man drove off in the truck, his wife got in her car and followed him, passing him on the Linville Fire Tower Road and making him stop. When he started backing up, she drove her front bumper into his front bumper. The sheriff said the husband was finally able to get around her and then saw deputies approaching who were responding to his call for help.
After hearing the husband’s story, deputies talked to Sonya Traylor Wise, 54, of 1324 Thurston Traylor Rd., Farmerville, and arrested her in the early morning hours of March 24 for domestic abuse battery.
Gates said the husband told deputies that his wife got very angry during a verbal altercation. Deputies reported that a lot of items were broken inside the residence including the glass platter that the victim was hit with. The victim also had scratches and a red, swollen shoulder where he was hit with a folding chair.
The deputies said Wise did not show any signs of being abused in any way.
Wise was ordered held without bail until a Gwen’s Law hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
Deputies said the husband became very distraught after his wife’s arrest because he did not want her going to jail.
