RUSTON, La. – (4/21/19) Louisiana State Troopers said two people were killed in a single vehicle accident on Sunday.
Shortly after midnight on April 21, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 821 just east of LA Hwy 33. This crash took the life of both the driver and passenger of the vehicle.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 29-year-old Christopher Brady of Choudrant, was traveling east on LA Hwy 821 when the vehicle struck a deer that was in the roadway. After striking the deer, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck several trees. The passenger in the Tahoe, 27-year-old Savannah Holden of Ruston, was trapped inside and had to be extricated.
Both Brady and Holden were taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
In 2019, Troop F has investigated 12 fatal crashes resulting in 14 deaths.
