LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) (12/8/18) – Three people from Texas were arrested Thursday night after a traffic stop led to a drug raid.

At about 5:30 p.m., Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Agents and SWAT Team members executed a traffic stop with the assistance of the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit. Because this is an ongoing investigation, authorities have not specified where in the parish the stop occurred.

A K-9 search of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics, the department said.

A cardboard box containing a large quantity of Methamphetamine was then located inside the vehicle. Deputies seized approximately 6.5 pounds (2,978 grams) of Methamphetamine, with a DEA street value of $595,600.
