LPSO: Lincoln Parish man convicted of double homicide

LINCOLN PARISH, La. – (5/17/19) A Lincoln Parish man has been convicted of a double homicide two years after arrest.

On Friday, May 17th, John A. Nichols pleaded guilty to two counts of Second Degree Murder. Nichols was arrested by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office on August 14, 2017 following an incident that occurred on that date in which Nichols shot and killed Anthony and Rachel Denicola at their residence. Nichols’ sentencing is scheduled for October 2019.

LPSO would like to thank Detective Dennis Penuell for his outstanding work as lead investigator on this case. LPSO would also like to recognize Detective J.D. Driskill, Detective Matt Shively and Chief Deputy Stephen Williams for their assistance in this investigation as well as the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office for their efforts in prosecuting this case.
