Louisiana Food and Music Fest set for October 21

KARD/KTVE presents the Louisiana Food & Music Festival at the Origin Bank RiverMarket on Saturday, October 21st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will feature a wide variety of cuisine, music, and vendors from across the state of Louisiana.

The Louisiana-centric food provided at the festival includes étouffée from Etouffeenin’s, grilled cheese and pork belly from The Cheezie Ryder, and jambalaya, roasted corn, and boudin from Delta Roux & Que. Other food vendors such as Krayola Snacks, Tribe’s, Dee’s Delights, Taylor Made Teacakes, Bluebird Pies, and Hot Diggity Dog will also be there.

On the Atmos Energy Stage will be Piney Hills Chorus at 10 a.m., Slawdogs at 12 p.m., and Jig the Alien at 2 p.m. On the Matt’s Music Stage will be Roses & Revolvers at 11 a.m.,  Robert “Guitarslim” Finley at 1 p.m., and Four on the Floor at 3 p.m.

Louisiana-made products will be sold at the event by local vendors such as Mitchell West Wood Photos, Laminin, Bowman Woodcrafts, Rustic Earth Soaps, and more. The Louisiana Food & Music Festival will also feature vendors selling handmade and healthy products such as arts, crafts, soaps, essential oils, woodwork, jams, jellies, sauces, music, clothing, and more.

DōMo rock painting will also take place at the event. It is a fundraiser for the Save the Train initiative at the Louisiana Purchase Garden & Zoo. It is one dollar to participate in the rock painting. Other donations can be made as well. All the proceeds from the DōMo rock painting will go to the zoo to save the train.

“This festival is all about celebrating everything that makes our state great! I hope everyone will bring their friends and family to enjoy everything Louisiana at the RiverMarket,” stated the Director of the RiverMarket Myra Gatling-Akers.

Parking will be available behind Riverscape, at the sheriff’s annex, and street side. Bring your lawn chairs to this family friendly event and stay a while!  Choice Brands will also have free beer samplings at the event so bring your ID!
