Local community buys woman in need a car

Local News

Shangarrica White has worked multiple jobs and had to undergo major surgery.

She couldn’t afford to buy a car for the trip from Bastrop to her job at Pecanland Mall.

Bastrop’s former mayor Betty Olive, the Morehouse Parish Sheriff and other community leaders stepped up.

She’s now the proud owner of a late model mercury from Bastrop Toyota.

Shangarrica says the car also will help her finish school to be a hair stylist and a nurse.
