LDCC unveils plaque in honor of former Gov. Blanco

Local News

(4/12/19) Former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco recognized for her efforts in bringing Louisiana Delta Community College to Monroe.

Blanco was vital in securing the funding needed to build of the LDCC campus in Monroe.

Chancellor Dennis Epps says the plaque that’s going up will do more than just honor Blanco. He hopes that it will inspire students.

“We’re hoping that students will walk by everyday and think about former Governor Blanco. Who she was as a person, her leadership, and her great heart and compassion for people and that hopefully some of these students will choose to emulate many of the great things that she’s done as a public servant,” said Chancellor Epps.

Former Governor Blanco served as the first female governor for the state of Louisiana from 2004 to 2008.
