(12/19/18) According to our partners at The News-Star, Jackson Parish Schools are no longer under a 51-year-old desegregation order.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Robbie James declared the district has achieved unitary status and complied with with the most recent consent order in good faith.
That means the district had corrected problems in the areas of student assignment, faculty assignment and staff assignment, so federal supervision isn’t necessary.
