(1/15/19) If you take Highway 80 in North Monroe, you no longer have to worry about the detours because the bridge has re-opened.
The bridge at the intersection of Highways 80 and 139 in Lakeshore has been closed since October thanks to a new roadway project.
It was built in two separate phases, which has allowed traffic to open back up.
The project was slated to be completed sooner, but is now 100 days past its expected completion time.
It is now expected to be completed sometime this spring.
Todd Jones with the DOTD says, “The latest schedule that we have shows the end of March. I would anticipate more like May.”
The Department of Transportation and Development, or DOTD, urges you to take it easy while construction continues.
Until the project is completed, lane closures are still possible.
