Future for downtown Monroe looking bright after today's Chamber Luncheon

MONROE, La. - (12/11/18) The future of downtown development is looking bright in Monroe.

Officials gathered for a chamber luncheon at the Flying Tiger Brewery in downtown Monroe today to discuss various projects going on around the city.

The projects aim to revitalize areas of downtown Monroe that need a touch-up.

Their goal is to expand growth within the city to attract residents and out-of-towners so they can experience all that Monroe has to offer.

Downtown developer Michael Echols says, "We're trying to repopulate, add new apartments and housing down there. We're trying to add new retail businesses, new restaurants and things for people to do on nights and weekends to try to keep that heart beat going."

They also discussed how trends across the nation will affect Monroe and how the city will to adapt to them.

As it is now, things looks promising for revitalization in downtown Monroe.
