Free little library now open at Charles Johnson Children’s Park

(4/12/19) MONROE, La. — One local park is now doubling as library.

Today, Mayor Jamie Mayo held a ribbon cutting for the new free little mobile library in south Monroe.

It’s located in the Charles Johnson Children’s Park across from the Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo.

The library was donated by Amelia Campbell, who was presented with a certificate from the Louisiana House of Represenatives.

Campbell says that the library will give kids the chance to experience the joy of reading.

“The whole point is to have children have access to the books whenever they want them and since this is a busy park I thought it would be a good location for them to have a little free library,” said Campbell.

The library is open 24/7 for kids to take, read, and return for others to enjoy.

This is the second location in the parish with the first being in West Monroe.
