A candidate for office is already making her mark in El Dorado history.

Veronica Smith-Creer is the first African- American woman to run for El Dorado mayor.

Creer has been involved in several community projects over the years, including several advisory boards.

She believes some already look to her as a community leader.

Creer says she wants to make sure that everyone in the city is heard.

“I can’t feel like I’m just representing one section of people, because there is to me a portion of our population that’s being underserved, definitely, I want to fight for them, but I want to make sure it’s an equal playing ground,” she said.

Arkansas requires you to register by April 23rd to vote in the primary.

The general election is November 6.
