“Rebuilding the proper way,” says Edward Trimble, FEMA Hazard Mitigation Specialist.

Hazard Mitigation Specialist for FEMA, Edward Trimble, says he and his team are giving free consultations and helping locals with the mitigation process.

“Showing them what type of materials to use. Mitigation is also about elevating your home, getting it above the base flood elevation,” says Trimble.

Trimble says FEMA noticed a need in the area with locals not knowing where to begin with the rebuilding process.

So they said lets just meet them at the hardware store where they will buy the materials.

“We’re here to offer and to assist people, to make their decisions here related to that a little easier,” says Trimble.

Recovery topics range from roof repair, rebuilding flooded homes, and mold and mildew cleanup and prevention.

FEMA will be available Saturday through next week, at Lowe’s in Monroe, to help anyone in the area looking to rebuild after the storm.

“We’ll be here between 9 and 6:30,” says Trimble.
