It’s now been a week since a quiet Jonesboro neighborhood was disturbed by violence.
Dwayne Palmer, 36, a father of four now gone after his family says he was shot three times at his own house.
Neighbors tell us just a couple days after he celebrated his birthday someone came knocking on his door and as soon as he opened it they opened fire.
The suspects even ran over the fence in his front yard trying to get away.
“Just to see this it’s hurtful,” Palmer’s neighbor, Bruce Robinson said.
Robinson says this small, close knit community isn’t used to dealing with this kind of tragedy.
This doesn’t normally happen this is a quiet community and everybody knows everybody here,” he said.
“His grand dad was a deacon at my church.”
People in the neighborhood describe Dwayne Palmer as quiet but would help anyone who ever needed it.
Robinson says he couldn’t imagine Palmer having any enemies.
“It still puzzles me why did you do this?” he said.
“He wasn’t the type to bother nobody and I never heard him beefing with anyone.”
Now, while they mourn this great loss, the attention turns to getting justice for his family.
An aspiring rapper and family man loved in the community. While his youngest daughter’s birthday only two days away, they hope to help his memory live on.
“Children know that your dad was a good man you dad had a goal he had a dream,” Robinson said.
The question is who decided to cut that dream short?
KTVE/KARD has learned that the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested at least two suspects in connection with this case.
We will update with more information as it becomes available.
