(10/4/18) Louisiana ranks second in the nation for women killed by men, that’s according to the Family Justice Center in Monroe.
Today the group kicked off Domestic Violence Awareness Month with their Hope in the Light of Day event.
Keynote speakers shared their tragic past with domestic disputes as well as spreading the message to end domestic violence around the world.
Director Valerie Bowman says, “We do have a very big problem in our community, but our community is standing strong against domestic violence and working to end it. We have done a lot of work with our S.A.E. task force, all of those individuals that have come together to take a stand against violence and hold batterers accountable.”
The Family Justice Center says they plan to host several more events throughout the month.
