Family heartbroken after teen killed in West Carroll Parish

WEST CARROLL PARISH - WEST CARROLL PARISH (1/21/19) - A family too heartbroken to speak about the killing of 17-year-old Chandler Erskine.

"It's just senseless", said Dee Tubbs, a close friend of the family. She's known Chandler since he was a little boy. She says his personality will stick with her forever.

"That spirit of loving and caring about everyone around him. That smile and that spirit that is so rare in teenagers", said Tubbs.

State police haven't given any details except  that they're investigating a homicide within West Carroll Parish, leaving Erskine's family with many questions.

"That's one thing that's very hurtful to the family seeing things on social media. That's all we know right now that there was a shooting occurred and this child has lost his life and other one is fighting for his life" said Tubbs.

Chandler was an honor roll student at Oak Grove High School - his life cut short ahead of his senior year.

"He was loved by friends family teachers the community I mean he just was a good kid", said Tubbs.

Police have not said whether they have suspects.

"There was no one there but these two children and whoever committed this terrible crime", said Tubbs.

Despite all the questions there is one thing that's certain.

"His life ended much, much too soon", said Tubbs.

The family just told NBC 10 an arrest has been made, however police have not confirmed this.

Tomorrow friends are asking that everyone in West Carroll Parish Schools wear red  in remembrance of chandler.
