The Northeast Louisiana Highway Safety Partnership has a new campaign to lower the number of deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
Destination Zero Deaths will target five areas of concern:
- Impaired driving
- Distracted driving
- Young drivers
- Passenger protection.
Safety Coordinator Susan Mitchell says Ouachita Parish causes major worry.
Mitchell says, “Ouachita Parish has one of the higher rates. We’re in the top 20 of fatal and serious injuries throughout the state so in our area it’s important to educate the youth and adults.”
Right now, the twelve parishes in Northeast Louisiana have had 103 fewer highway deaths than at this time last year.
The goal is to cut deaths and serious injuries by half, over the next 12 years.
