UNION PARISH, LA (4/9/19) As the ArkLaMiss continues to dry out from this weekend’s storms, damage from flooding continues to pour in. Now, residents that use Highway 151 near Highway 33 have to deal with detours as repairs continue.
Tww bridges that support the highway experienced large openings from rushing waters. The damage to the norhtern bridge has been repaired as of Tuesday, but the southern bridge is still under repair, and will be for the next 2-3 weeks. They need to wait for waters to recede so they can get a better idea of the total damage.
Until then, drivers are encouraged to use caution while driving in the area. This goes for all roadways in Louisiana as well; do not attempt to drive over roads that have large amounts of standing water. It is hard to gauge if the road is washed out, and it could potenitally save your family and your vehicle. Turn around, don’t drown.
