(1/24/19) Officials have arrested a Louisiana woman after they say her baby tested positive for marijuana.

According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff Office, Kassidy Rodrigue, 22, of Pierre Part, Louisiana, was arrested following a medical complaint related to a child having seizures.

Police say on Sunday, January 20, 2019, deputies responded to the complaint of an ill child.

A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office was alerted by an area hospital that an infant tested positive for marijuana.

An investigation commenced and detectives learned that the infant’s mother may have been ingesting marijuana prior to the child’s seizure.

Detectives interviewed Kassidy Rodrigue on January 23, 2019, at which time she admitted to smoking marijuana prior to breast feeding the infant hours before the seizure. Rodrigue was the only person who had been around the infant and had smoked marijuana recently.

Rodrigue was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

– Second Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile

– Child Desertion

Rodrigue’s bond has been set at $125,000. She remains incarcerated.
