A Public Safety Officer was fired and arrested for fabricating reports of being shot at during a traffic stop Wednesday.

According to Louisiana State Police, former DPS police officer Chandler LeGrange lied about the sequence of events that occurred on Octobr 29, 2018. 

Detectives determined the deceit after investigating several inconsistencies in LeGrange’s initial claims.

As a result, he has been booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on the following charges:

Malfeasance in Office and Filing False Public Records.

Louisiana State Troopers are investigating after a traffic stop escalated into an officer involved shooting in Denham Springs Monday evening.

According to Senior Trooper Bryan Lee, the incident occurred after 6 p.m. south of I-12 on Juban Road between a Department of Public Safety Officer and a motorcyclist.

Authorities are now turning to the public for assistance in finding the driver of a motorcycle involved in this shooting. 

He is believed to be a heavily tattooed White man, wearing a helmet with a purple mohawk on it.

We’re told he was riding a red, orange and black motorcycle. 

Louisiana State Police released the following statement regarding this shooting on their Facebook page:

LSP is asking for assistance from the public in locating a motorcyclist who possibly shot at a DPS Officer during an attempted traffic stop. The incident happened around 6:20 pm on Juban Rd. south of I-12 in Livingston Parish. The motorcyclist is believed to be a heavily tattooed white male wearing a helmet with a purple “mohawk.” The motorcycle is believed to be a red/orange/black sport bike. Anyone with any info is asked to call LSP Troop A at 225-754-8500.”
