Defense Sec. Shanahan on Capitol Hill, making a case for spending $750B on armed forces next year

(3/14/19) Officials with the Pentagon were on Capitol Hill today, trying to make a case for spending $750 billion on our armed forces next year.

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan says the proposed budget boosts missile supplies and strengthens the military.

Lawmakers worry that a border wall will take away money to fix housing problems and other military construction projects.

Military officials say they want to be more efficient on the battlefield – and that starts with efficient spending

Sec. Shanahan said, “No adversary can be as damaging to military readiness as budget instability.”

Congress has until the end of September to reach a funding deal for next year.
