UPDATE (7:00 PM): According to the West Monroe Police Department, the overturned 18-wheeler was carrying about 1,000 cases of motor oil, which spilled into the median.

Officials say that is one reason for why it’s taken so long to clean up the accident.
Authorities had to call out a pump truck with the Departent of Environmental Quality to come out and clean the oil.
Officials say they don’t know the company of the 18-wheeler.
A lot of the boxes in the trailer had Autozone on them.
As of now the oil isn’t considered hazardous and they think it could take about another 3-4 hours max to clean up.

A traffic nightmare is slowing the commute from work as vehicle continue to move at a snail’s pace in the east bound direction.

The wreck happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near the Well Road exit on I-20.

The 18-wheeler overturned in the median.

Two minor injuries have been reported.

Parts of the interstate have been blocked throughout the afternoon as workers clean up the mess.

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
