Between March 8th and 12th in 2016, more than 20 inches of rain fell on Ouachita and its surrounding parishes causing devastating flooding and recovery has been expensive.
So far, the March floods have cost the City of Monroe at least $3.6 million dollars.
The Monroe Police Department estimates they’ve spent around $222,000.00 to date in recovery.
The Monroe Fire Department estimates their expenses to hit around $67,000.00 to date.
The Public Works Department estimates they’ve spent around $1 million dollars.
The City’s Engineering Department estimates they’ve spent around $2.4 million dollars and they still they have another $1.5 million dollars in remaining repairs.
