(4/17/19) A convicted sex offender faces new charges after deputies say he was caught using a different name on social media.

George Shirley, 48, faces Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Faulkner County officials say Shirley was using a different name on Facebook, and deputies came across the page.

FCSO says just like sex offenders register their address and car, they must also share any and all screen names with the department.

“It’s required by Arkansas state law that they register their social media or email, and they have to give their username that they are using in real time to be on social media,” says Deputy Erin Stone with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.

FCSO says their sex offender team monitors social media to make sure no locally-registered sex offenders are under false identities.

If they are caught, the person is picked up and booked.
