Congressman Ralph Abraham is hoping to open up the lines of trade between Louisiana and Cuba.
Abraham flew out of Monroe this morning headed for Cuba.
He is calling it the Louisiana foreign trade trip.
Abraham says that Louisiana farmers have a lot to offer the world of trade which will help Louisiana farming and the economy.
“We are 36 hours away at the port of New Orleans from the main Port of Cuba to deliver our goods, especially our rice, soybeans, and corn. so, we want to lay the ground work. We want to be the first out of the gate,” says Congressman Ralph Abraham, (R) Louisiana.
From this trip, Congressman Abraham hopes to have contacts in place to begin trade as soon as possible.
