The Children’s Coalition had a birthday and is officially 20 years old. To commemorate the milestone the company held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Downtown Monroe location.
Now all of the Children’s Coalition programs will be housed under one roof. That includes its Family Resource Center, Child Care Connections, Early Headstart classroom and its administrative offices.
One organizer said they are very excited for what the new location will bring even though they are unsure what they should expect. “We’re really hoping the community will tell us what they need. Then we will come together with our coalition to help serve them — it’s all about what’s inside of the package and so we’re only as good as our staff and the people we serve,” said Executive Director Lynn Clark.
The event also hosted a groundbreaking ceremony that broke ground on a garden that will not only feed children in the Headstart program, but it will also promote healthy eating for families.
