(8/30/2018) According to our news content partners at the NewsStar, the rehabilitation project to fix the Cheniere Lake spillway and Highway 3033 bridge are on hold and politics may be to blame.

Ouachita Parish Police Juror Scotty Robinson says State Senator Jim Fannin said last year he could “short circuit” the project. Fannin denies he made the comment. Robinson stands by his statement.

According to a report in the Ouachita Citizen, State Senator Mike Walsworth and Ouachita Police Juror Jack Clampit said the Louisiana Department of Transporation and Development had an agreement with the Police Jury to have the state provide match money for the project. Bridge and spillway repairs could cost up to $9.6 million, according to the Ouachita Citizen.
