Candlelight Vigil Held to Remember Murdered Louisiana Tech Student

Local News
Dozens remembered the life of a Louisiana Tech student who was murdered on New Year’s Eve.

A candlelight vigil was held Thursday night on campus to honor 22-year-old Nicholas Green, also known as Niko.

Friends and family lit candles, shared memories and came together in song and prayer.

Those devastated by his death said they’re staying strong, by remembering his positive attitude.

“If Nick was here, he’d want me to keep going,” Green’s cousin Dylan Deville said. “He wouldn’t want us to even be sad at all– period–and that was the type of person he was. You know I was here, I did my time but ya’ll live on you know?”

“To keep me going I just know that he’s in a better place,” friend Eric Whitehurst said.  “He’s no longer suffering no more and from what you’ve seen tonight, you can obviously see and know– his name isn’t going in vain.”

Green was shot and killed early Sunday morning.

As of now- authorities haven’t made any arrests in his case.

If you have any information about this murder, call Ruston Police or Crimestoppers.
