Bastrop lifeguards recognized for saving a young child's life

BASTROP, La. - (7/12/2018) Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser was in Bastrop today to award 5 lifeguards who saved a young child's life.

Lifeguards Eric Floyd, Stephanie Sharp, Charlie Shockey, Sidney Stevenson, and Alexis Crumley were awarded proclamations for their actions that led to the rescue of Jakobe Heron.

Heron nearly drowned in the Chemin-A-Haut State Park's swimming pool before being saved.

Lieutenant Governor Nungesser said, "It just shows we have young people here in North Louisiana that truly care about their neighbors, family, friends, and they have their eyes on the kids in the pool. So I am really proud."
