(4/29/19) NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL) — The rivalry between the Northwestern State Demons and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs baseball teams will take a backseat to camaraderie and sportsmanship when the two teams meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Natchitoches’ Brown-Stroud Field.

The Louisiana Tech flag will be flown alongside the American and Louisiana flags behind the outfield wall in a show of solidarity between NSU and Tech, following the tornado that devastated Ruston last week.

NSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee members will accept cash donations at the gate leading into the stadium throughout Tuesday night’s game, and all proceeds from concessions sales at the game also will be donated to the relief effort.

In addition, donations will be taken throughout the game to go toward disaster relief at Louisiana Tech University, which was hit by a tornado in the early morning hours of April 25. The storm resulted in five total casualties and widespread damage to the city of Ruston, along with several of Louisiana Tech’s athletic facilities.

Prior to the game, a contingent of Northwestern State leaders will make a presentation to Louisiana Tech Director of Athletics Tommy McClelland, a former two-sport NSU letterman, and head coach Lane Burroughs, who coached at Northwestern State from 2013-16.
