Barton Library kicks off summer reading program

EL DORADO, Ark. - 2018 June 12

The Summer Reading Program has started at Barton Library in El Dorado.

It kicked off with a puppet show present by Turning Point in El Dorado.

The kids gathered in the Children's Library to listen to a skit about bullying.

Barton Library partners with several businesses for programs and performances throughout the summer.

They say it's all to promote other avenues of reading.

Children's Librarian, Karla Nelson, says the puppet shows addresses an issue that seems to be nationwide.

"In our school system we have a lot of kids that are being picked on for whatever reason and being different from others and so we wanted to build up self-esteem with the kids for today."

Barton Library's Summer Reading Program takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00p.m -3:00 p.m. through July 27.
