(2/28/19) The bill would impose a registration fee of $100 dollars on hybrids, and $200 dollars on electric vehicles each year.
It’s sponsor aruges the fees are necessary because Hybrid and electric drivers aren’t paying as much in fuel taxes.
The bill would also raise fuel taxes in Arkansas for the first time in 20 years.
Two thirds of the Governor’s $300 million dollar highway plan would come by making a half-cent sales tax permanent.
First, lawmakers have to refer it to voters to get it on next year’s ballot.
