Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has sounded off on a plan that could allow states to drug test some food stamp recipients.

The Trump Administration says its proposal, released last week, would be narrowly targeted–applying to about five percent of SNAP participants.

During a sit down with reporters this morning, Governor Hutchinson called the plan a pilot for drug screening.

He says he would support that and for-cause testing, but is waiting on more details from Washington.

“Where there is reasonable suspicion that a welfare recipient is on drugs that they are then tested and have consequences or get treatment for that. To me, that’s more cost effective and actually leads to a better result,” says Governor Asa Hutchinson.

No word yet on a timeline for Trump’s plan.
