Local law enforcement officers had a special reason for running in the heat today across Northeast Louisiana.
This week is the annual torch run in support of Louisiana Special Olympics.
Officers and deputies from various agencies across Northeast Louisiana came together in the heat to participate in the race.
They arrived to the Ouachita Parish Courthouse on their way south to Columbia.
Despite the heat, officers came together to run for a greater cause.
“We’re going to continue no matter what. We have enough runners today but yeah the heat is taking a little bit of a toll on even some of the best runners we have. It’s a pretty hot day,” says Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain Dale Schellette.
The Louisiana Special Olympics is this weekend.
