(1/27/19)–Cowboys and cowgirls are taking over the Ike Hamilton Expo Center.

The annual Ike Derby and Classic is here, along with dozens of horses, cows and competitors.

Each rider is competing in a cutting competition, using horses to keep cows away from the rest of the herd. Competitors like Craig Thompson are hoping to take home first prize.

“Today we’re in the second go around of the four year old open competition,” said Thompson. “so I showed in the first round, fortunate and blessed enough to make it to the second go-around, and so today I’m just trying to do whatever I can to advance to make it to the finals,”

Various vendors also showed up to sell and showcase their horse equipment. Riders from across the globe came to compete, and all of them are hoping to be the highest scoring man or woman.

The Ike Derby and Classic will be at the expo center until Saturday, February 2nd.
