79-year-old found dead in Arkansas lake

An Arkansas man has been found dead after a fishing trip.

Arkansas Game & Fish notified the Chicot County Sheriff’s Office around 3:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 of an abandoned boat found on Grand Lake in Eudora.

An examination of the boat revealed it was still at full throttle & was out of gas.

After running the boat verification number, it was determined the boat was registered to Tom Willis Stovall of Fouke, Arkansas.

There were several attempts made by game & fish officers to locate a relative of Mr. Stovall.

Through a friend, officers were able to locate his daughter, who stated that Mr. Stovall was fishing at Grand Lake.

Deputies with the Chicot County Sheriff’s Office, the Sammy Angel of Lake Village Fire & Rescue and Arkansas Game & Fish officers began the search for Mr. Stovall.

79-year-old Tom Willis Stovall’s body was recovered from Grand Lake on May 16, 2018.

Stovall was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Patrick Hicks & transported to Bishop King Funeral home of Lake Village.

Stovall’s body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
